About Kondaveedu fort
Kondaveedu Fort was originally constructed by the Rajas of Orissa in the 13th century. Later it was ruled by the Reddi dynasty between 1328 and 1428 and then ravaged by the Muslim rulers of the Bahmani kingdom (1458). The Vijayanagara emperor Krishnadevaraya captured it in 1516. You can trek up to the cantonment atop the hill located 1725 feet above the mean sea level. Navigating through lush green fields of chilli and cotton crops, you reach Kothapalem (earlier known as Puttakota) at the foot hill of Kondaveedu.
